How Weather
Tite Began

We built Weather Tite Windows on the simple belief that Tampa Bay & Sarasota deserved better windows and doors.

How Weather Tite Windows began
in Tampa Bay

Michael “Weather Tite Windows Mike” Hollander got his start in the window business in 2004 working in sales for his uncle’s company, Weather Tite Windows, in Ohio. He worked his way up to Vice President of Sales, helping open eight satellite locations across the country along the way.

When Weather Tite Windows expanded into Tampa, Mike quickly learned that doing business in Florida was different. The building codes were different. Licensing, permitting and inspections were different. And the Tampa operation was struggling.

For two years, Mike traveled back and forth between Ohio and Tampa, working to turn the business around. Eventually, his uncle decided operating a Florida location from Ohio was more trouble than it was worth and planned to shut it down. Mike had another idea. He offered to buy it.

In June 2006, Mike packed a U-Haul, left Youngstown, Ohio, and headed for Tampa with $7,000 to his name and a business to build.

His first $2,000 went toward a warehouse deposit. Another $1,000 secured an apartment. With just $3,000 left, Mike put everything he had into a local home show, generated his first leads and got to work.

One of those early opportunities led to a multi-story condominium project. By putting the customer first and delivering on what he promised, Mike won the business, helping establish the reputation for service and complex installation expertise that Weather Tite Windows continues to build on today.

Building a Reputation for Quality

Dedicated In-House Teams

Unlike many contractors, Weather Tite Windows invested in dedicated installation teams focused exclusively on replacement windows and doors, a decision that shaped the standards the company holds today.

2008

A Recession, a Scratched Elevator, and Weather Tite Windows First Condo Community

When the Financial Crisis hit in the fall of 2008, financing dried up and homeowners across Tampa Bay stopped replacing windows. Earlier that same year, Weather Tite Windows completed a window installation in a Tampa Bay condominium, and the installer accidentally scratched an elevator in the process.

Rather than pay to repair it, Mike offered to replace a sliding glass door in the building’s common area for free. The residents loved it. They asked him to hold a community meeting, and thirty homeowners signed up for estimates on the spot, right as the national economic crisis was unfolding.

It became Weather Tite Windows’ first real foothold in condominium work, a specialty the company still leads in today.

2010

Growing the Team

The same year, the company completed its second major condo project, replacing over 1,000 windows in a Port Richey community.

Looking Ahead

Today, Weather Tite Windows continues to grow while staying true to the values that started it all: quality workmanship, premium products, and a commitment to doing the job right. Our focus remains on delivering an exceptional experience for homeowners throughout Tampa Bay and surrounding communities.
What We Believe
and why

Our philosophy is simple: good business creates more business. We’re not chasing every customer, we’re earning the kind of experience homeowners want to tell their neighbors about.

Honest Work

No shortcuts, no hidden costs, no excuses. We give homeowners straightforward recommendations and fair pricing from the first estimate through the final walkthrough, then stand behind every installation with the same care we’d want in our own homes.

Specialization

Most of our competitors run multiple locations or sell windows, roofing, and other trades side by side, so when one product line slows down, another keeps the business running. Weather Tite Windows has never operated that way. We install one manufacturer’s windows and doors, from a single location, and nothing else.

Expertise

That focus is what makes the difference. The same way a specialist doctor who focuses on one procedure builds a level of skill a general practitioner never will, our narrow focus on windows and doors has made us genuine experts in this one area of construction, not generalists spread thin across a dozen trades.
